VI.17.41 Pompeii, according to PPM –
“This painting has been wrongly attributed to the tablinum of VI.17.41, the pieces recomposed from numerous fragments and shows a flying female Genius. The characteristics of the figure do not seem to agree with the recognisable remains from the north wall of the tablinum, therefore one must think that the fragments had been found in this area during the excavation in the 1950’s and perhaps belong to the decoration of oecus 15 in the south-west of the house at VI.7.41, or of triclinium 20 in the north-west corner of the same house.”
See Carratelli, G. P., 1990-2003. Pompei: Pitture e Mosaici. VI. (6). Roma: Istituto della enciclopedia italiana, (p.20, no.22/23.)
Or VII.16.17-22 Pompeii. Wall painting of winged female figure, possibly Victoria. PAP 41653.
Photographed at “A Day in Pompeii” exhibition at Melbourne Museum. September 2009.
This may have come from the area of oecus 32 and may be the II style winged Nike.
