According
to the information card –
this
diaeta (a day room or living room), with a window opening onto the Gulf,
reveals a special mosaic wall decoration consisting of diamond shapes (rhomboids),
within which birds, flower, female figures, medallions and cupids alternate.
Largely
removed in the 18th century, it was variously remounted in the Naples Museum,
where it can be seen to this day.

In the Bourbon times, this cubiculum painted yellow, also provided Naples Museum with some frescoes of satyrs and reclining warriors.
From the centre of its floor, a square emblem was removed, but so far has been impossible to trace.

Sulla destra del fornello un rubinetto, decorato a
testa di leone, permetteva al liquido riscaldato di uscire secondo le esigenze.
L’ansa del coperchio è a forma di bustino
di Mercurio e sulla parete del contenitore è fissata una applique a
maschera comica; tre cigni decorano il fornello e tre maniglie “a goccia” sono
applicate ai lati del vassoio.
(trans: On the
right of the stove a tap, decorated with a lion’s head, allowed the heated
liquid to flow out as needed. The handle of the lid is in the shape of a head
of Mercury and fixed on the wall of the container is a comic mask. Three swans
decorate the stove and three “teardrop” handles are
applied to the sides of the tray.)
